1.There Vision

They seek to create ENVIRONMENTAL and SOCIAL impact through sustainable designs and solutions in the lifestyle space.

ENVIRONMENTAL impact by reviving traditional sustainable practices and SOCIAL impact by empowering the rural communities with utilitarian designs and an aesthetic that is current.

2.Why choose Bamboo?

So why Bamboo? Bamboo is the future.  It is the most beautiful, versatile, tallest and strongest material that we could possibly choose. The rain-forest is almost gone, plywood is mostly made from the rain-forest and cement has a carbon load that is not going to help the future. That leaves bamboo and if children plant bamboo today in eight years they will have timber ready to go and they will get timber every year for the rest of their life to build anything they need.

Trees don’t grow back after being felled.

Bamboo does!!

Highly Renewable!

A new shoot comes up almost immediately and bamboo can grow up to 4 ft in a day!!

Imagine this – By the time bamboo is processed, treated and manufactured into goods, a new shoot is almost in its mid-age.

3.Strength of bamboo.

Bamboo is strong, with the compressive force of concrete and the strength-to-weight ratio of steel.

Throughout Asia, bamboo has always been regarded as sacred, symbolizing grace, strength, flexibility, endurance and longevity.

Ancient literature held bamboo in profound esteem: “When the storm comes, the bamboo bends with the wind. When the storm ceases, it resumes its upright position.”

4.bamboo Preparation

Bamboo is washed to remove grime, mud, dirt and stains.

Bamboo is perforated by puncturing holes in all the nodes from one end of the bamboo.

We use a homegrown solution with a repurposed lathe to automate this process.

Non-toxic boron solution is also prepared at this stage.

5.There Design-Craft

Natural fiber and earthen craft is centuries old and is part of the culture and heritage of India. We have been working with artisans of bamboo, rattan, earth and other natural fiber to reinterpret the craft, reorient the craft to the modern context by ensuring that each design has a functional value.

Crafts is a fragmented industry, establishing a brand isn’t that simple. One will need to make the industry better, bring it together, bridge gaps and connect people. A lot of hard work was put into building the confidence of rural artisans, that a livelihood is possible in crafts using sustainable materials that they grew up learning sans migration. Initially, we had to improvise upon traditional sustainable techniques to build processes that are scalable. We are transforming traditional crafts to products that can be showcased on par with the contemporary-created products of today in lifestyle stores and not be limited to the craft-fairs alone.

6.Future The bamboopecker seek.

In the future, Bamboopecker seeks to become an interdisciplinary and manufacturing hub, a home for product designers to design and manufacture products with natural materials and rural artisans.

A place for policy analysts to work with government on policy recommendations to revive rural and bamboo based livelihoods and become self-reliant.

Incorporate latest technologies to increase the scale of production and consequently make our Eco-friendly products more affordable to reach the masses.

A go-to place to that helps various industries come up with solutions for a sustainable future.
